Neighbours helping neighbours.

Building a stronger Albany together.

At Albany Community Hub, we believe strong communities are built by people who care. There are many people looking for support, connection, knowledge and guidance – be that kind person & lend a helping hand in your community.

This volunteer group is new, help us get it thriving! Feedback & collaboration also welcome.

Helping Albany become prepared & safe.

One volunteer group – two goals!

If an emergency such as flooding happens in Albany, we need a group of local people who are ready to help set up the Albany Community Hub and support our community.

We also need people throughout the year to help spread the word about emergency preparedness — so more people know how to prepare their homes and families before an emergency happens such as flooding, earthquakes or even a pandemic like covid.

🏠Goal 1 – Practice together to be ready when emergencies happen

We’ll design roles and practise setting up and running the Albany Community Hub — from welcoming people and making cups of tea, to sharing information, handing out torches and phone chargers, providing food and blankets, and helping people and pets find where they need to go.

🌱Goal 2- Help Albany Prepare before an emergency happens

Throughout the year, we’ll design & find fun ways to share emergency preparedness information — through community events, the interactive emergency ‘Escape Tent’, activities, flyers, social media, videos, storytelling or whichever way suits you.

💛 One Team • Many Ways to Help

You don’t need to know what role you want to do. We’ll work it out together based on what you enjoy, what you’re good at and how much time you have. This is a new group, help us get it going!

Community Activator - Greater Albany

As the Albany Community Activator, I support;

  • Community-led ideas  for example; If you want to get a group started like a book club or walking group, I could help you find a venue or funding or help advertise. Or I can guide you to existing groups. Check out the ‘whats on’ page & sign up to our Albany Community Hub newsletter to stay connected here
  • Neighbourhood connections  for example; If you wanted to have a gathering with food and games to get to know neighbours, I could help with costs & spreading the word.
  • Emergency preparedness  for example; I am growing a Volunteer group who will creatively help educate the community on ways to prepare for emergencies & this group will also will also set up the Albany Community Hub if there is an emergency. I also have an educational interactive emergency preparedness ‘Escape tent’ & lots of resources for the community to learn from.
  • Place making  for example; Ive created the Kell park rock trail – people can take their painted rock there and discover the hidden flying fox, beautiful bush walk & landing reserve field to play games, walk the dog, picnic and make new memories locally. Want to help highlight some areas of Albany? Lets chat.
  • The ‘Upper Harbour Ethnic Peoples Plan’  Read more about this and see how you could help too; click here
